The past has no power over the present moment
This is true. Power is only in the now and only into where you allow the power to be. But what shapes the who, what, why of the present power is directly shaped from the past. Meaning, our prior situations steer us to view things in a certain way, whether it is subconsciously or consciously.
Take any previous situation at work or in life and think about how a similar situation even before that had given you an idea or a theory of how this situation would turn out. It happens all the time. We get so accustomed to it, we don’t even notice it anymore. How about after checking out at the register of a grocery store, we know what the cashier is going to say, we already have “you too” lined up to respond to their “have a nice day!” But then the off chance, they say something else, you still say “you too” and then its a hilarious situation.
Even the smallest of situations prepare you for the next. If a situation didn’t go your way last time (“you too”) learn from it and analyze how you can do better, so when presented with a similar situation, you are prepared to do well.
